Translate review to English. Es ist ein Dorf in Ungarn mit Russland das homophobste Land Europas , hier wird es dem jungen Aron von allen Ecken vorallem von seiner Mutter -auch heute-noch immer- vermittelt , wie ekelhaft, abnormal ,schmutzig seine Neigung ist-Neigung,die er bis jetzt "in Griff" dh.
Bis der Szabi aus Deutschland im Dorf auftauchte. Und-der Szabi ist schuld , das er in dieses Dreck hineingezogen wurde.
Besonders wertvoll! Der Film endet nimmt ein unerwartetes Ende. Alleine deshalb ist er sehenswert. Dieser Film ist tiefgreifend und ehrlich.
Er beschreibt die Situation von Schwulen in Osteuropa in einer realen Dramatik. Schlussendlich endet dieser Film genau in einem realistischen Extrem dieser Problematik.

Therefore, the movie ending is fictional from the director. The exceptional effect of the movie is that so subtlety hits you along with the shock of the ending.
In other words I saw my own denial at work. Once again the director did his job. I have to agree with others who said they should have not shown who does it and left it up in the air.
Even showing Aron getting convicted with no evidence would have been a better over all societal message.
Did the father really do it or the GF's brother and other friends. The town bullies at Aron's Mom's request, etc.
This movie is a hard review for me because we are told by the director ,Czsasci? First off, I want to say the acting is top drawer, and the sexual energy between the two main protagonists is erotic and compelling!
BTW: when are these directors going to show that sex between two men is as graphic as sex between a man and a woman? The sex scenes are brief and and almost fully clothed and all the action takes place above the belt line!
Inasmuch this is a true story, we are left with little information about the true nature of Aron. In real life, was he a suppressed homosexual , just needing the spark that Szebi provided or asexual, living in a home dominated by a manipulating, needy mother?
But again, was the real Aron as conflicted as the movie Aron? Per the director there was no evidence that Aron killed Szebi and Bernard had an air tight alibi- he was in Germany when the murder took place.
So, he infers that the state did not want to leave open that one or more of the townspeople did the murder and seems to further imply that although Aron originally said he was not guilty, he later confesses he did kill Szebi and was tried and sentence to prison!
Now, was he given the third degree remember this was a formerly East European country and I'm sure their questioning techniques were less than gentile?
So, the 'solution' is to get Aron to confess to the crime and call it a crime of passion and not a crime that may have been committed by someone in this highly religious community?
One person found this helpful. Internalized homophobia is a Very Sad Thing. When you choose to make a film about it with such a violent, hateful, tragic ending, well, you need some serious help.
There were several points where this film could have gone differently which could all have come out quite nicely, because the quality of the cinematography, and certainly the acting, was quite good , and could have turned into something quite beautiful.
Instead, "somebody" I'm not saying that it was a self-loathing writer or director, specifically chose to take it to the darkest, most brutal, most un-enlightened ending where the Homo "had to die.
The movie delves into the extreme ambivalence that some gay men have to deal with in coming to terms with their sexuality.
It is not easy and does not always have a happy ending. It shows how rejection by family, friends and society compounds the problem. A bit slow in parts but a very good story with excellent acting and a nice glimpse into the Hungarian rural life and culture.
The sex scenes are very conservative which does not hurt the story. Depressing but well done. The ending ruined it for me.
So unnecessary. I do not understand why so many lgbt movies in this day and age insist on being soul crushingly depressing!
Definitely a film that starts out with an exciting athlete starting on a scoccer team and taking side seat to more of a Greek love story with many conflicts, but when I thought I had figured out the ending of a wonderful love affair, damn I was taken buy surprise.
Definitely worth watching. I didn't score the film more than 3 stars because I felt the producers did a crappy job with the Translation on the screen.
It was difficult to read, back blended in with white print and it was to fast. Tense, unrelenting, strongly acted. The fact that this movie is based on reality makes it all the more unnerving.
The movie catches your attention early and never lets go. Did the movie end the way I wanted it to - no. Did it take you into the lives of two very different people and find some inexplicable bond of love - yes - does the deep seeded guilt of religiosity driven by a manipulative mother frustrate you - yes - the film really is excellent and takes you places you have only felt privately.
I highly recommend the movie. The acting is incredible and the story is absolutely engrossing. You will NOT regret the time or the money to see this film!
